LAHORE: Pakistan Women’s U19 cricketers Eman Naseer was pleased to see the confidence Fizza Fiaz brought in their team’s series levelling victory over Bangladesh.
Eman and Fizza spoke with pride and confidence after their side’s thrilling victory over Bangladesh in the fourth T20I, which saw them successfully chase a target of 127 runs — their highest-ever successful run chase in U19 cricket.
The win leveled the five-match series at 2–2, setting up a decisive finale. Fizza, who played a match-winning knock, revealed her mindset at the crease: “When I came out to bat, I told Eman right away that we would chase this total.
Even though Banu was waiting there, I told everyone in the dugout that I would win this match and come back.” Her confidence proved infectious, lifting the team at a crucial stage. Captain Eman Naseer echoed the importance of that partnership, noting: “She was so confident when she came in.
Even though we had lost some early wickets, that partnership was very important at that time. It was great that she was so confident in her abilities that we would chase it down.” Both players assessed the pitch as favorable for batting, though spinners found some assistance. Their plan was simple yet effective — stay at the crease until the end and secure the victory.
Eman added that their preparation in the training camp, where they practiced chasing targets in the 127–130 run range, gave them the belief to perform under pressure. Reflecting on the series, they acknowledged the setbacks of losing two consecutive matches after winning the opener, but emphasized their determination to stage a comeback. With positive intent and renewed confidence, they expressed hope of clinching the series in the final match.
