LAHORE: The Millat Tractors Governors Cup Golf Championship 2025, one of the most anticipated events on Pakistan’s golfing calendar, was formally announced here Wednesday.

At a press conference held at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club, organizers revealed that this year’s edition will feature a record number of participants, including a large pool of single-handicap golfers, underscoring the tournament’s rising prestige to be seen in action from December 10 to 14.

The press conference was attended by Ahsan Imran from Millat Tractors, Gymkhana Golf Convenor Wajid Aziz, Tournament Director Adil Jehangir, Media Director Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed, and other representatives of the sponsors.

Officials said that the Governors Cup has evolved into a major sporting attraction due to its unique handicap format, which levels the playing field and fuels intense competition among golfers of varying skill levels. “This championship has earned immense popularity because of the competitive handicap structure, which gives every participant a fair chance. As a result, top golfers eagerly look forward to being part of the field each year,” the organizers noted.

The tournament will showcase a strong lineup of elite single-handicap players, including Mohsin Zafar, Sameer Iftikhar, and Taimur Shabbir, all expected to mount serious challenges for the title. In addition, several prominent women golfers will also be competing, reflecting the growing inclusion and enthusiasm within women’s golf.
