KARACHI: Pakistan secured seven honours at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025 in Kaohsiung, marking a standout year for the country’s technology sector.
The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) led a 55-member delegation of companies, startups, and student teams, all of whom qualified through the HBL P@SHA ICT Awards 2025.
The event brought together innovators from 16 economies and opened with senior Taiwanese officials, including Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Hou Yi-Hsiu and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai.
Pakistan’s contingent, the largest it has ever sent to the competition, showcased projects recognised earlier this year among 104 top entries, including 37 winners and 58 runners-up. The delegation was guided by P@SHA Chairman Sajjad Mustafa Syed, who also serves on the APICTA Executive Committee, alongside judges Dr Shoab Ahmed Khan, Shahzad Shahid, Khurram Idrees, Dr Usman Akram, and coordinator Zain Tariq.
The country emerged with a strong haul of seven awards. GeoGemma by the Institute of Space Technology secured both the People’s Choice Award and the top prize in the Tertiary Students category.
KPITB’s Dastak platform won in the Public Sector and Government category. Student team Sense Guard from Fazaia Inter College Jinnah Camp placed first runner-up, as did NUST’s Osteoscreen in the Tertiary Students category.
Dynasys Networks achieved two runner-up positions, in Business Services and IoT, for its ALEF solution. Unikrew Solutions rounded off the wins with a runner-up award for its consumer app Faceoff.
Sajjad Syed said the results showed the growing global competitiveness of Pakistan’s technology ecosystem. He added that the awards reflected the talent, commitment, and creativity shaping the country’s digital future.
P@SHA thanked the Pakistan government, HBL, judges, mentors and partners for their support and said it would continue to promote innovation and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in regional digital markets.
