Nonehal Cup serves as featured race of LRC card today

LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club’s winter meeting enters its 14th day on Sunday with the Nonehal Cup serving as the featured race of the card. The two-year-old maiden contest over 1,200 metres is expected to draw keen interest from racing enthusiasts, with six juveniles set to line up for honours at the club’s main track.

The opening race of the day, a Class VII Division VII sprint over 1,000 metres, has My Handsome tipped as favourite, with Thunder Man expected to challenge for place honours and Naveed-e-Sahar marked as the fluke. The field of 14 includes Mr Brown, Barbaro, Red Chilly, Fateh One, Mafnood JR, Red Hot, Moj Mela, Jalal Prince, I Shall Lead, Majesty and Haseeb The Great.

Race two, a Class VII Division VI event over 1,000 metres, sees Jungle Di Star installed as favourite. Haseeb Barbarian is considered a strong place contender, while Royal Stone has been marked as the fluke. Eleven horses will contest this division, including Lucky Macs, One Second, Barrister, Chiki Rika, Sher Dil, Silent Melody, Malik Choice and Gifts of Gold.

The third race, a Class VI run over 1,200 metres, features a smaller field of five. Daaku is the favourite, with Mogambo tipped for place and Murad as the fluke. Quality Street and Luna Afzaal complete the line-up.

The Nonehal Cup, the day’s highlight, is a two-year-old maiden race over 1,200 metres. While no official favourites have been declared, weight considerations suggest Adaab as the likely front-runner, with Present Queen tipped for place and Samara as the fluke. The six-horse field also includes Brutus, Ameera and Queen of Pharoah.

Race five, a Class VII Division I&II contest over 1,100 metres, has King Azan as the favourite, Dominus as the place contender and Nostalgic as the fluke. The nine-horse field features Feel My Love, Kit Kat, Desert Crown, Sarkar Raj, Flight Line and Makafat.

Race six, a Class VII Division II&III sprint over 1,000 metres, sees Fairy World tipped as favourite, with Cinderella’s Dream expected to challenge for place and Little Master as the fluke. The nine-horse line-up also includes Power Show, Secret Lover, Be A Man, Seven Star, Luckvir and National Colour.

The finale, race seven, is a Class VII Division IV&V sprint over 1,000 metres. Imperius is the favourite, Haseeb Warrior tipped for place and Construct Craft marked as the fluke.
