ISLAMABAD: With the approval of FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the appointment of new members of Income Tax, Federal Excise and Sales Tax (Inland Revenue Service) across Pakistan has been made.
While Zubair Bilal, Grade 21 officer formally assumed charge of the post of Member Inland Revenue Operations at the FBR headquarters, Islamabad, on Dec 4, 2025, the notification of the transfer and posting was issued by Secretary Management/HRI Sultan Muhammad Nawaz Nasir, copies of which have been forwarded to all concerned offices and officials.
A former member of the FBR’s tax policy told Jang in a telephone call from Lahore on Thursday night that in accordance with the notification issued, Shabia Al-Ajaz, a senior official of Grade 20, has been appointed as the new acting chief of Large Tax Office Karachi on his own salary and scale.
FBR Member Inland Revenue (Operations) Dr Hamid Atiq Sarwar, who suffered a serious back injury after slipping during an official visit to Paris last Monday, is in hospital and will be brought back to Pakistan soon. Since the post of Member Inland Revenue is very hectic, it is likely that he will be entrusted with the responsibilities of Member Strategic Affairs upon his return home.
