Navy chief interacts with MARSEW-8 participants

ISLAMABAD: Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, interacted with the participants of 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8) who visited the Naval Headquarters here on Thursday.

The admiral highlighted emerging maritime challenges, evolving opportunities in the maritime domain and the immense potential of Pakistan’s blue economy. The naval chief dilated upon the impregnable deterrence of the Pakistan Navy during Marka-e-Haq and contributions towards regional peace and stability through active participation in the Combined Maritime Forces and Regional Maritime Security Patrols.

Earlier, the participants were briefed on contemporary maritime threats, Pakistan Navy’s initiatives for maritime domain awareness and coastal community development. The delegation comprising parliamentarians, politicians, bureaucrats, senior armed forces officers, media representatives, entrepreneurs, business leaders and academia acknowledged the significant role of MARSEW in maritime awareness and its contribution towards maritime policy making.

They also lauded the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests.

The eleven-day workshop aims to enhance understanding of maritime security and the geopolitical significance of the Indian Ocean, while providing a platform to deliberate on key national maritime challenges and opportunities.
