ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday maintained its stay on the Council of Islamic Ideology’s opinion in a case related to religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that the stay on the CII’s opinion will remain in place but its powers were not being suspended. The court summoned Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan for assistance and asked him to present the state’s position on the matter.
The court remarked that the CII’s opinion could be sent to the president, governor and parliament but the rules permit the council to send the opinion only to the Parliament. The court adjourned the hearing until after the winter vacation.
