ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram announced on Thursday that two new committees will soon be formed after party supremo Imran Khan dissolved the existing 40-member political committee.

Speaking to The News, Waqas Akram said one of the committees, likely named the apex committee, will consist of around 12-15 members. In addition, an executive committee - or committee of elders - comprising primarily former members of the dissolved political committee, is also under consideration. He explained that the executive committee’s role would be to address on-ground issues and develop recommendations for the apex committee. A message has already been sent to PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to facilitate formation of the apex committee, which is expected within two to three days. Waqas said the apex committee will include senior party office-bearers with extensive knowledge of political landscape and close connections to party workers.
