Army beat WAPDA in opening netball match of 35th National Games

KARACHI: Pakistan Army defeated Pakistan WAPDA in the opening netball match of the 35th National Games, which was inaugurated by Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Secretary General Khalid Mahmood Chaudhry.

In the men’s matches played at the PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi, on the opening day, Pakistan Army beat Pakistan WAPDA by 21-27 goals, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overcame Sindh by 19-23 goals, Pakistan Navy outclassed Balochistan by 8-32 goals, and Pakistan Police defeated Punjab by 12-28 goals. In the women’s competition, Pakistan WAPDA defeated Pakistan Army by 10-15 goals. On Friday, in the men’s competition, Pakistan WAPDA will take on Sindh, while Pakistan Army will face Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Punjab and Pakistan Navy will compete against each other, and Pakistan Police will play against Balochistan.

In the women’s fixtures, Gilgit-Baltistan will play Pakistan WAPDA, Punjab will take on Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Army will face Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh will compete against Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The semi-finals will take place on December 6, followed by the group position matches, the third-place match, and the final on December 7.

A total of eight men’s teams and six women’s teams are participating in the event, divided into two groups each. Group A of the men’s competition features Pakistan WAPDA, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan Army, while Group B consists of Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Police, Punjab and Balochistan.
