KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee was a little changed against the US dollar in the interbank market on Thursday. The rupee closed at 280.45 per dollar, nearly unchanged from its close at 280.46 in the previous session.
The local unit also remained flat in the open market. The rupee finished at 281.5 against the dollar, unchanged from the previous close, according to the currency rates released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP).
Analysts said the rupee has remained stable, and the trend appears calm. They expect the rupee to remain largely stable in the near term, as key supportive factors are still in place. These include a steady rise in foreign exchange reserves, positive sentiment surrounding the next payout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Pakistan, inflows during Ramazan, steady interest rates and consistent remittances.
