Traffic police on Tuesday launched an e-ticketing system for all intercity buses entering Karachi, warning that any vehicle bypassing the Sohrab Goth Bus Terminal or the Karachi Bus Terminal would face immediate fines and strict legal action.
Intercity buses were required to operate strictly within the limits of the designated terminals. Vehicles that enter the city directly, violating these rules — contribute to traffic congestion, increase the risk of road accidents, and cause inconvenience to commuters. Traffic plolice said that drivers found violating the law would face stern action, with repeated offences leading to additional penalties. They had instructed all transport operators to use only the designated terminals and fully comply with traffic regulations, warning that stricter measures would follow if violations continue.
DSP Admin Karachi Traffic Police Kashif Nadeem said that enforcement would be centred on the e-ticketing system. Cameras installed along key routes remained active around the clock, and any intercity bus entering the city would automatically be fined through the system. The fine for an intercity e-ticket is Rs20,000, he added, noting that further legal action was also underway.
