ISLAMABAD: Legendary tennis player and winner of 11 Grand Slam singles titles, Bjorn Borg, has congratulated Aisamul Haq on hosting the first-ever ATP Challengers in Pakistan, terming it the start of a new era for the country.

The 22-year-old son of former tennis great Leo Borg also competed in the ATP Challengers concluded in Islamabad on Sunday. Bjorn Borg’s message is the latest one received by Aisam, following many others who also congratulated him on bringing the ATP Challengers to Pakistan.

“Dear Mr Qureshi, First of all, congrats on your great career and nice to see you being honoured at Nitto Finals in Turin. Leo has told me only good things about your event and that it felt special that you actually made it happen - the first ATP event ever in Pakistan.

“It’s huge growing the sport of tennis in the world and I can imagine this being huge for tennis in your country and the next generation of players! “As you now know, this was Leo’s maiden challenger main draw win and we are happy that he made the trip to Islamabad and got the win. I see that you are through to the final - that is some retirement.

“All the best to you Aisam.

“Best regards

“Bjorn Borg.”
