Two killed as vehicle plunges into Indus River on KKH

ALPURI: Two people hailing from Mansehra lost their lives when a vehicle veered off the Karakoram Highway and fell into the Indus River near Besham.

The incident occurred at the Lahore Nullah turn in the Shangla district, a dangerous section of the major roadway.

According to police, a pickup truck registered as C-4731, was returning from Gilgit to Mansehra when the driver lost control.

The truck plummeted hundreds of feet from the main highway down into the mighty Indus River. Both occupants, who were trapped inside, were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were identified as Muhammad Aslam, son of Muhammad Akram, a resident of Town Area, Mansehra and Arif Shah, son of Barkat Shah, a resident of Darband, Mansehra.

Authorities reported that upon receiving information about the crash, police and rescue teams rushed to the location. After a recovery operation, the bodies were retrieved and transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Besham.

Following necessary formalities, the bodies were handed over to families.
