HYDERABAD: The Mirpurkhas police have made progress in Amna murder case by arresting the main suspect who reportedly made shocking confessions during the investigation.
This tragic incident of the minor girl’s murder had caused an uproar across the Mirpurkhas district.
On November 4, 2025, an FIR No 73/2025 regarding the disappearance of seven-year-old Amna, daughter of Ghulam Haider Kundani Baloch, was registered against an unidentified accused at the Taluka Shuja Abad police station upon the complaint of her father in the Jahluri area of Mirpurkhas’s Shuja Abad taluka.
Mirpurkhas SSP Dr Sumeer Noor Channa took strict notice of the incident and formed a special investigation team, which began probing various aspects and gathered initial evidence.
Initial investigations indicated that the child was abducted during school hours.
On November 9, police received information that the body of a minor girl had been found near Dika Minor. Subsequently, it was confirmed to be that of Amna.
Police immediately conducted a post-mortem, the initial report of which stated the cause of death to be strangulation, while the final report is still pending.
The key suspect in the case, Zahid, son of Muhammad Ashraf, alias Khara Khaskheli, was arrested on Wednesday from Goth Mubeen Khaskheli.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he abducted the girl from near her school, took her to a room there and expressed his intention to commit rape.
When the child screamed, he strangled her with a discarded IV drip tube found in the rubbish. He hid the body behind the school wall and fled.
Later that night, he returned, placed the body in a sack, and dumped it near Jamrao city.
The suspect disclosed during the investigation that he had been monitoring the child’s routine for several days and often tried to lure her by giving her things.
Police officials said the accused had misled the investigation team by falsely informing the victim’s father that he had seen Amna near the school and had dropped her off.
According to the police, the accused belongs to a family of professional barbers in the area and had divorced his wife a long time ago.
Political, social, religious and legal figures have expressed deep sorrow over this tragic incident and offered condolences to the victim’s family, demanding the provision of justice.
The Mirpurkhas police have registered the case under the Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The Mirpurkhas SSP commended the investigation team for solving the case and announced cash rewards.
