HYDERABAD: The Sindh Action Committee (SAC) took out a protest rally from the Old Campus to the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday, opposing the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, alleged plans to divide Sindh, and the inequitable distribution of water resources.
Participants from nationalist parties, civil society organizations, and human rights groups carried banners and flags, while chanting slogans against the federal government’s policies toward Sindh.
A heavy police contingent was deployed along the rally route. During the protest, police reportedly detained more than 25 participants and shifted them to an undisclosed location. Following the detentions, members of the Sindh Bar Council, Hyderabad Bar Association, and District Bar Association staged a protest against the police action, chanting slogans and warning that if the detained activists were not released, the scope of the protest would be expanded. Later, Hyderabad police released all detained demonstrators after mounting pressure from lawyers and civil society representatives.
