Son arrested for killing mother in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Police have arrested a man accused of killing his mother in Qasimabad, Hyderabad. The killing took place on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, in Al Shahbaz Colony within the jurisdiction of the Naseem Nagar police station.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Hanif Mari, son of Muhammad Ayub Mari, allegedly shot and killed his mother, Rukhsar, aged around 50 years over a domestic dispute. After the incident, the Naseem Nagar police reached to the scene, shifted the body to the LMC Hospital Hyderabad for medico-legal formalities, and launched a manhunt.

A case (FIR No. 514/2025) under the Sections 302, 311, and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered on the complaint of the victim’s husband, Muhammad Ayub Mari. Hyderabad SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio took immediate notice of the tragic incident and ordered the arrest of the suspect. Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Hanif on Wednesday near a bypass close to the Quaid-e-Azam Park.

A 30-bore pistol used in the crime was also recovered from his possession. Police said a separate case under the Sindh Arms Act would be registered against him for possessing the illegal weapon.
