High-speed truck kills seven nomads in Shikarpur tragedy

SUKKUR: Seven nomads, including six family members, were killed and six others injured when a high-speed truck ran over workers sleeping on the roadside near Kuddan Hotel, Shikarpur.

According to reports, the truck, loaded with vegetables, collided with an electric pole before veering out of control and crashing into the nomads’ camp. The accident resulted in seven workers dying at the scene, while six others sustained injuries. The deceased were identified as Rashida, Amanullah, Najma, Savaira, Imamzadi, Kefi, and Reema. The injured include Shahryar, Ashu, Khamiso,

Datto, Rabia, Shamim, and Zahida.

Police stated that the tragedy occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle, with initial investigations pointing to excessive speed as the cause. Upon receiving news of the incident, rescue teams and police arrived promptly at the scene. The police have seized the truck, and a search for the driver is underway.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the Shikarpur accident. He directed authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured and instructed the commissioner of Sukkur to extend all necessary support to the affected family. Additionally, he ordered strict action against the driver responsible for the tragedy.
