Every year, between September and March, Pakistan becomes a crucial stop along the Indus Flyway, a massive aerial highway used by millions of migratory birds fleeing the Siberian winter. These exotic travellers, including cranes, flamingos and the endangered Houbara bustard, transform Pakistan’s wetlands into vibrant hubs of biodiversity. However, recent years have seen a drastic decline in bird counts — attributed to climate change, habitat loss and poaching.
