KARACHI: Karachi is expected to remain mostly cloudy over the next three days, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely at isolated places, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in a statement on Sunday.
The weather department said the maximum temperature today is likely to stay between 31°C and 33°C.
Sea breezes from the southwest were blowing at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour, the department said.
Humidity in the city was recorded at 78%, keeping conditions humid across the port city.
Humid conditions are expected on Monday and Tuesday, while drizzle may occur during the morning and night hours.
The latest forecast comes as the pronounced low-pressure area over Rajasthan has weakened further and become a low-pressure area, according to the Meteorological Department.
Monsoon currents coming from the Arabian Sea are affecting most parts of the country, the department said.
Rain with thunderstorms is expected today in several Sindh districts, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Badin.
The department said rain with thunderstorms is also expected in Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad and Matiari.
Rain is likely in Ghotki, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot and other districts.
The latest forecast comes after light rain and drizzle occurred in various areas of Karachi during the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall in the city was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadeed at 4.5 millimetres, according to the Meteorological Department.
Surjani Town received 4 millimetres of rain, while 3.4 millimetres was recorded in Gulshan-e-Maymar.
The department said 2.3 millimetres of rain was recorded on the M-9 Motorway and 1 millimetre in Keamari.
Drizzle was also reported at Jinnah Terminal, Old Airport, Korangi and North Karachi, among other areas.
