Fifa President Gianni Infantino has confirmed he will visit Pakistan soon, underlining Fifa's commitment to fostering football growth and development across the country.

Speaking on Thursday on the sidelines of the 56th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Infantino revealed that he has already communicated his intention to travel to Pakistan to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The proposed visit signals FIFA's renewed focus on strengthening football infrastructure and governance in the South Asian nation.

Infantino expressed optimism about the recent developments within the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), highlighting that the federation is now on a positive path following administrative changes.

He praised the newly installed leadership, stating that it has brought much-needed stability after years of turmoil and governance challenges.

“I will come to Pakistan very soon. I promised the prime minister,” Infantino said. “We now have a new president of the federation who is doing a fantastic job.”

“Pakistan is a great football country,” he said. “We need to bring Pakistan to the top of Asia for sure. We are working on that,” he added.

Pakistan football has faced prolonged setbacks in recent years due to internal disputes and administrative issues, which resulted in international isolation and repeated interventions by FIFA.

However, the formation of a new leadership structure has helped restore confidence among stakeholders and opened the door for international engagement once again.

Infantino's planned visit is expected to further strengthen ties between FIFA and Pakistan, with discussions likely to focus on grassroots development, youth programmes and improving football governance.

Officials believe the visit could play a key role in revitalising the sport and unlocking new opportunities for Pakistani football at both domestic and international levels.
