The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced plans to auction special vehicle number plates featuring the names of prominent political figures, including jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, President Asif Ali Zardari, and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jehan told Geo News that number plates with the names of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will also be included in the auction.

The minister said that, in the first phase, the number plates "Imran Khan-804" and "Imran Khan-1" will be available for auction on January 27, while plates bearing the names of other political leaders will be offered in the next phase.

According to a formal advertisement issued by the Excise and Taxation Department, the number plates bearing the names of different castes, including Afridi, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Yousufzai, Mahsood, and Khattak, will also be auctioned on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.

The citizens can submit their applications via the Dastak app. The deadline for submitting applications is January 26, 2026.

The minister said that the bidding for fancy number plates will start from Rs 1 million, and the highest bidder will be awarded a number plate bearing the name of their preferred political or national figure.

Fakhar Jehan said that vehicle owners are showing strong interest in the initiative, which is expected to generate significant revenue for the national exchequer.
