ISLAMABAD: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) held an awareness session on e-commerce and digital skills for women entrepreneurs in Islamabad, covering digital marketing, online business growth, digital payments and access to domestic and international markets.
The session, organised by TDAP’s Women Entrepreneur Division in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD), was held at PITAD in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Dr Hira Arshad, assistant director at TDAP’s Women Entrepreneur Division, said the authority is working to create export opportunities for women entrepreneurs through training, awareness sessions and institutional support.
PITAD Director General Shazia Adnan and Salman Mufti, additional secretary (Trade Policy) at the Ministry of Commerce, also addressed the session.The event was attended by Naima Ansari, former president of the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), and Hina Zulfiqar, vice president of the Rawalpindi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI).
The technical sessions were conducted by Muhammad Irfan, director general (Services & E-Commerce) at the Ministry of Commerce. He discussed the e-commerce ecosystem, digital entrepreneurship, digital marketing, online business growth, digital payments, policy and regulatory considerations, and the use of data and digital tools for business development.
Participants were also briefed on moving from local online sales towards export readiness, building customer trust, maintaining digital business records and using digital platforms to expand market access.
The session was attended by women entrepreneurs and representatives of the Islamabad and Rawalpindi women’s chambers of commerce and industry. Participants also took part in question-and-answer discussions on establishing and expanding digital businesses.The event concluded with the distribution of certificates by Kosar Zaidi, former trade minister of Pakistan to Kabul, who also addressed the participants.
