ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) will take up next week an appeal concerning disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly, Sohail Sultan, on the grounds of being a government employee and therefore ineligible to hold public office.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, will hear the case on July 8. The court has issued notices to Election Commission, Attorney General, and other respondents, directing them to submit their replies. The appellant has challenged both the reference sent by Speaker of National Assembly and Election Commission’s authority to proceed with the matter.
