ISLAMABAD: As part of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ongoing engagement in international judicial cooperation and knowledge exchange, SC Justice Ayesha A Malik participated in an international judicial workshop and training programme on “Judicial Services for Green and Low-Carbon Transition and Development”, held from June 22 to 26 in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.
The five-day programme, organised by the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, brought together judges and judicial experts from various jurisdictions to exchange knowledge and best practices on emerging developments in climate litigation and the judiciary’s role in advancing sustainable development, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
During the workshop, Justice Malik delivered a keynote address and a presentation on climate litigation in Pakistan, focusing on Pakistan’s evolving climate jurisprudence, rights-based approaches to climate governance, institutional accountability and emerging trends in climate adjudication. Importance of incorporating gender-sensitive perspectives within climate responses and judicial decision-making was also addressed in the discourse.
