BUDAPEST: Two traffic accidents involving a truck and a minibus from Moldova left eight foreign nationals dead early on Friday in western Hungary, officials said.

Both crashes happened early in the morning near the city of Gyor, on the M1 motorway.

Around 4:30 am (0230 GMT), a truck driven by a Turkish citizen collided with a construction vehicle, killing the truck driver at the scene, a Hungarian police statement said.

Less than 45 minutes later, a Moldovan minibus carrying nine people crashed into the rear of a Ukrainian vehicle, “likely due to the resulting traffic slowdown”, the police said.
