ISLAMABAD: The newly elected office-bearers of the Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) formally took oath during a ceremony held at the committee room of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Monday.
Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani administered the oath to the newly elected officials and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting chess across the country.
Zeshan Naqvi took oath as President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan, while Anwar Saleem was sworn in as Senior Vice President. Agha Wasim assumed office as First Vice President, Muhammad Wasim as Second Vice President and Inamullah as Third Vice President.
Among other office-bearers, Gohar Iqbal took oath as Secretary General, Musawar Khan as Finance Secretary, Wasif Nisar as Joint Secretary and Shahid Khan as Press Secretary. Addressing the ceremony, Mohiuddin Wani congratulated the newly elected officials and assured them of full support in their efforts to develop and popularize chess at all levels in Pakistan. “We will provide all possible support to promote chess in the country,” Wani said. “Pakistan has immense talent in the game of chess and it is important that opportunities are created for young players to showcase their abilities.”
