LAHORE: Arafat Minhas, named Player of the Series after Pakistan’s hard fought ODI triumph over Australia, credited a positive mindset and meticulous preparation for his standout performances and the team’s overall success. Speaking after the decider in Lahore, the young all rounder said mental strength, domestic match practice and disciplined preparation were central to converting potential into match winning contributions.
“I’m super happy with my performance and the team’s performance as well. We’ll continue this momentum going forward,” Arafat said, reflecting both personal satisfaction and collective ambition. He emphasised that confidence is not accidental but built through deliberate preparation: “I think it’s all about mindset. If you have a positive mindset, the results are positive. Our preparation for this series was very good and we benefited from that.”
Arafat’s comments underline a broader theme in Pakistan’s recent white ball revival: the interplay between domestic platforms and international readiness. He singled out the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a crucial development pathway, saying the tournament helped him sharpen his skills and gain the self belief required at the international level. “(PSL) is a good platform to prepare well and gain confidence. I think the performances I gave will boost my confidence further,” he added.
On the field, Arafat’s contributions were tangible across the series. His disciplined bowling spells and useful lower order runs provided balance at critical moments, and his fielding energy added an extra dimension to Pakistan’s unit. While senior players carried responsibility in key phases, Arafat’s emergence as a reliable performer reinforced the selectors’ strategy of blending youth with experience.
Looking ahead, Arafat stressed a commitment to continuous improvement. “I’ll continue improving my skills and maintain good preparation for the upcoming events,” he said, signalling a professional approach to training and match readiness.
That mindset, he suggested, will be vital as Pakistan prepares for a packed international calendar that includes the Pro League fixtures, the Asian Games and the build up to the World Cup.
