National wrestling championship in July to select team for Asian Games

KARACHI: A national weightlifting championship is to be held from July 10-15 at PSB Training & Coaching Centre in Lahore to finalize the selection of men’s team for 20th Asian Games.

The Interim Committee on Pakistan Weightlifting Federation has announced holding this national championship with the support and approval of Pakistan Sports Board in which teams from all services, departments and affiliated/recognised provincial/regional associations will participate.

The competitions in the championship will be held in various bodyweight categories which include 60 kg, 65 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 94 kg, 110 kg, 110 plus Kg, 44 kg, 48 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, and 77 plus Kg.

The last date of entries is June 28 for two players in each category and maximum number of players in each team is eight while no player missing the subject championship will be considered for final selection, entry and participation in the Asian Games 2026. The compliance of IWF/ADOP/PADB Anti-Doping Rules will be strictly observed for weightlifting.
