Sindh governor confers civil awards at investiture ceremony

On the directives of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, an investiture ceremony for the conferment of civil awards was held at the Governor House Karachi, on Wednesday, where distinguished individuals from various walks of life were honoured for their outstanding services.

Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi conferred the “Sitara-e-Imtiaz” upon 12 individuals for their remarkable contributions in different fields, while one individual received the “Presidential Award for Pride of Performance” and 13 individuals were awarded the “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.”

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah along with members of his cabinet, senior civil and military officials, dignitaries, and family members of the award recipients. Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah conducted the proceedings of the ceremony.

The recipients of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz included Engineer Rukhsana Zuberi, the late Dr Shamsuddin Qureshi, Fazeela Qazi, Sawera Nadeem, the late Professor Karrar Hussain, Senator Sarmad Ali, Abdul Rahim Janoo, the late Shah Jahan Syed Karim, Dr Syed Mahmood Shah, Surosh Hashmat Lodi, Professor Dr Mujeebuddin Memon, and Ashraf Habibullah.

Mukhtiar Naz Taj Mastani received the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance. The recipients of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz included Zakaria Muhammad Ismail Godil, Javed Rais, Abid Hussain Lashari, Dr Mumtaz Umar, Muhammad Adil Abbasi, Kiran Naz, Iram Rizwan, Adnan Qadir, Khalid Mahmood Sheikh, Qazi Shujaat Qadri, Brigadier Khalid Khan Lodhi, Lieutenant Colonel Syed Ali Asim, and Lieutenant Colonel Farhan Khero.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor congratulated the award recipients and said that national civil awards served as recognition of the invaluable services rendered by individuals who have brought pride to the country through their dedication and achievements in their respective fields.
