Killer of 5 shot dead in Bannu ‘encounter’

BANNU: Police killed a wanted suspect in a shootout during an intelligence-based operation in a forested area here on Tuesday, officials said.

They said that District Police Officer (DPO), Bannu, Yasir Afridi had received credible information that a wanted outlaw, Adnan son of Inayatullah, wanted in a case involving the killing of five people, was hiding in the forested area of Jaman Road, Khashni Killay.

Acting on the information, they added, a swift operation was launched under the supervision of the DPO, in which the City SDPO and SHO City Police Station, along with police personnel, conducted a raid on the suspected location.Police officials said that when the team attempted to arrest the suspect, he opened fire to avoid capture. The police retaliated in a professional manner, resulting in an exchange of fire.
