KARACHI: FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Ltd (FCEPL) has partnered with the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC) to introduce a life and disability insurance programme for dairy farmers, marking one of the first such initiatives in the country’s dairy sector.

The scheme will initially cover more than 1,500 farmers and their families under FCEPL’s Dairy Farmers Programme, offering financial protection in cases of accidental death or permanent disability. The coverage is being provided at no cost to participating farmers, according to the company.

FCEPL said the programme is part of its wider farmer engagement strategy, aimed at supporting livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of dairy supply chains.

Under the arrangement, SLIC will provide a one-year insurance cover for accidental death and disability. The insurer said the initiative is designed to extend financial protection to underserved rural communities and improve risk management within the agricultural value chain. The initial rollout will include farmers across FCEPL’s existing network, including smallholders, with potential for expansion depending on uptake and operational feasibility.
