QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Friday formally inaugurated Gwadar’s first-ever women’s market, established to promote women’s economic empowerment.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Provincial Assembly Member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, and Women Development Department Secretary Saira Ata.

The women’s market in Gwadar is being hailed as a major milestone toward strengthening women’s financial independence. It has already started providing respectable employment opportunities to local women and is considered an effective step toward promoting women’s economic inclusion in the province.

During a briefing, officials informed that 14 shops have initially been set up in the Gwadar Women Market, where women are actively engaged in various business activities and showcasing their skills.

Chief Minister Bugti visited the market and met women shopkeepers to learn about their issues, suggestions, and experiences.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Bugti said that empowering women is among the government’s top priorities. He stated that such initiatives not only strengthen women’s economic independence but also play an important role in overall economic development.

He described the Gwadar Women Market as an excellent platform for highlighting women’s capabilities and assured that the government would ensure the provision of facilities to make the project more effective.

The chief minister said the provincial government is creating a business-friendly environment for women and that similar initiatives will be expanded to other areas so more women can benefit. He said sustainable development is not possible without women’s economic participation, therefore the government is taking practical steps to integrate women into the national mainstream.

CM Bugti added that projects like the Gwadar Women Market will contribute to social and economic stability, noting that providing women with business opportunities is a guarantee of a brighter future.

He assured continued government support for women’s development and welfare to steer the province toward progress and prosperity.
