Islamabad : The Islamabad Police have apprehended 28 suspects over the last 24 hours as part of an intensified citywide crackdown on illegal firearms and narcotics. According to a police spokesperson, these arrests were carried out during various operations across the federal capital under the ongoing ‘Arms-Free Islamabad’ and ‘Nasha Ab Nahi’ campaigns.

Authorities reported significant progress in the effort to secure the city, recovering a substantial cache of unlicensed weapons and illegal drugs from the individuals taken into custody.

Officials confirmed that 18 of the suspects were arrested specifically for the possession of illegal firearms. During these raids, law enforcement seized eight rifles of various calibers, ten pistols, one shotgun, and a diverse range of ammunition. The police emphasized that these measures are part of a broader strategy to eliminate the public display and use of unauthorized weapons in Islamabad.

In a simultaneous push against the drug trade, police apprehended 10 alleged dealers and seized a significant variety of contraband. The recovered items included 3.76 kilograms of hashish, over two kilograms of crystal meth, one kilogram of heroin, and 30 bottles of liquor. These operations are part of a dedicated anti-narcotics drive aimed at dismantling trafficking networks within the city.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Muhammad Jawad Tariq reiterated the department's zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal activities. He stated that dedicated police teams will continue to conduct targeted operations against drug traffickers and those possessing illicit arms to ensure the safety of the public.
