KARACHI: FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with A2Z Energy Systems to install a 2MW solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 4MWh battery energy storage system, advancing its decarbonisation strategy, said a statement on Monday.
The hybrid system will be deployed at FCEPL’s operational sites to improve energy cost efficiency, enhance power reliability and reduce exposure to grid volatility amid rising tariffs. It is also expected to support peak shaving and optimise energy use, strengthening operational resilience.
Chief Executive Officer Kashan Hasan said the initiative marked a key step towards building a sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure, while reducing the carbon footprint of dairy operations and reliance on non-renewable energy.
A2Z Energy Systems, acting as the EPC contractor, will deliver the project on a turnkey basis, ensuring design, integration and execution in line with international standards. Chairman Anwar ul Hasan said the project reflects the growing link between sustainability and financial performance in industrial energy strategies.Once operational, the system is expected to generate stable cost savings, improve energy continuity and serve as a scalable model for clean energy adoption in the industrial sector.
