OSLO: Norway´s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who suffers from a rare lung disease, appeared in public on Friday for the first time wearing a device to help her to breathe.

The 52-year-old princess wore the nasal cannula -- a tube connected to an oxygen device carried by an employee of the royal palace -- as she and her family welcomed Paralympic athletes in Oslo.

She has a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis that causes breathing difficulties and has repeatedly forced her to take sick leave or scale back her official schedule.
