LJUBLJANA: The Slovenian parliament´s inaugural session on Friday elected a lawmaker from an anti-establishment party as speaker with the backing of conservatives, following a tight election last month.

Slovenia does still not have a government. Talks led by outgoing prime minister Robert Golob, whose liberals won the election by a razor-thin margin, have not yielded results. Lawmakers elected Resnica leader Zoran Stevanovic as speaker of the 90-seat parliament, with 48 votes.
