KARACHI: Babar Azam has admitted that he has not been able to live up to the expectations of fans, but insisted that he is working hard to improve and deliver better performances.

Speaking to the media after Peshawar Zalmi secured a victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen at the start of the second phase of Pakistan Super League Season 11 in Karachi, Babar said he was disappointed with the manner of his dismissal in the match. The Zalmi captain said he should not have gotten out at that particular moment of the game.

He acknowledged that he has not been performing exactly the way fans expect but stressed that he continues to work hard to improve. Babar added that his effort is always to ensure that the team gets a strong start during the powerplay. The right-handed batter also rejected the impression that he has not finished matches for his team, saying that he has successfully finished many games in the past. Babar further said that Iftikhar Ahmed reads the pitch well and that he often seeks his advice.
