LAHORE: An eventful day at the Lahore Race Club saw a mix of favourites living up to expectations and fluke entries stealing the spotlight, with Golden Heart delivering one of the biggest upsets of the card on Sunday evening.

The Lahore races showcased a thrilling mix of expected wins and dramatic upsets. While favourites like Ammarah’s Dream and Jungle Di Star delivered, fluke entries such as Haseeb Di Great, Luckvir, and Tomorrowland stole the show. The standout moment, however, belonged to Golden Heart, whose upset victory underscored the unpredictable nature of racing.

There were surprises at every turn as Lahore’s race day highlighted both the reliability of favourites and the excitement of unexpected triumphs. The day began with a surprise as Haseeb Di Great, sired by Prince of Gawalmandi and ridden by Azan Imran, galloped to victory. Owned by Zaheer Babar and trained by Sohail Aziz, the fluke entry edged out Malik Choice into second, while Shanzy claimed an unexpected third.

In the second race, Favourite Ammarah’s Dream, sired by Latin Quarter (IRE) out of Sweet Sorrow (TBP), lived up to her billing with a commanding win. Owned by Musa Mazhar Khan Muhammad, she outclassed the field, though Dhandla Prince and Chika Rika surprised by finishing second and third respectively.

Another favourite, Jungle Di Star, ridden by M Ajmal and trained by Qadeer Ahmad, secured victory in the third race. Zaman Sahib and Rashid Prince provided unexpected finishes in second and third place.

The fourth race produced the day’s biggest shock. Golden Heart, sired by Stonehart and ridden by Awais Anjum, stunned the field to clinch victory. Owned by Malak Sami Kasi and trained by Farasat Ali, the outsider toppled favourite Maverick, who had to settle for third behind surprise runner-up Waqat.

Another fluke entry, Luckvir, ridden by M Ramzan and trained by Zia Ur Rehman, claimed the fifth race. Dubwai’s Dream and Asif Princess added to the surprises by finishing second and third. The final race saw fluke entry Tomorrowland emerge victorious, while Safe Bet finished second and favourite Vartika had to settle for third.
