LAHORE: On the directives of Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has finalised plans for a series of mega sports events to be held in April.

DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi confirmed that SBP will organize 21-km Marathon, 5-km Women’s Race and a Family Fun Race alongside Special Persons & Wheelchair Race and 21-km Cycle Race.

In addition, the CM Punjab Swimming Championship will be staged in mid-April, with thousands of athletes expected to participate across disciplines. The initiative reflects SBP’s broader vision of nurturing grassroots talent, celebrating athletic excellence, and embedding sports into the cultural fabric of the province.

From marathons to swimming championships, Punjab is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of sport and community spirit this April. Participants offered valuable suggestions to ensure smooth execution of the events, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.

DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi reiterated SBP’s commitment to strengthening the sports ecosystem across the province. “Sports Board Punjab is taking effective measures for the development of sports culture across the province,” he said.

He highlighted that these events are designed not only to showcase athletic talent but also to encourage public participation, foster healthy lifestyles, and promote inclusivity through races for women, families, and differently-abled athletes.
