LAHORE:On the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a 24-hour monitoring of development projects under the Punjab Development Programme was ongoing across the province, said a handout issued here on Sunday.
According to the spokesperson for the Housing Department, key measures were being taken to accelerate the pace of development works before the monsoon season to ensure timely completion of projects.
Work on a historic development programme worth Rs204billion was progressing rapidly in 15 districts, with significant advancements. According to data, 4 percent development work has been completed in Sargodha, 21.5pc in Okara, 17.1pc in Dera Ghazi Khan, and 14.2pc in Jhang. Similarly, 13.7pc work has been completed in Gujrat, 12.6pc in Hafizabad, 10.5pc in Faisalabad, and 10.7pc in Sahiwal.
Meanwhile, Punjab Housing Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal visited development projects sites in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, where he reviewed the progress of sewerage system upgrade works.
During the visit, Wasa officials briefed him on the progress achieved so far. The secretary emphasised the need for further improvement in both the quality and pace of ongoing development works. He directed the Quality Assurance Committees to conduct surprise visits to project sites and submit reports on a daily basis.
Instructions were issued to maximise development activities during nighttime to accelerate progress. The secretary stated that all projects must be completed before the monsoon season to avoid inconvenience to the public.
