LAHORE: Another group of organisers from the East Zone Cricket Association of Lahore Region have voiced serious concerns over the affairs of the East Zone Cricket Association in the past.

They were of the view that certain policies and practices in the East Zone in the past undermined transparency and were seen damaging the rights of local players.

These organisers were of the view that a certain organisers of East Zone were mis-using the legacy of the late Mian Javed Ali, a former Secretary of Lahore City Cricket Association, to shield their own cause while also pointing to non-transparency in the recent Challenge Cup selection process.

They alleged that more than 140 players were included through non-transparent means, bypassing merit.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), these organisers said, had previously initiated an inquiry into the East Zone affairs which, they claim, prevented disciplinary action thorough the intervention and mediation by the Lahore Region Cricket chief.

These organisers stressed that while Lahore Region has historically upheld merit in youth and national competitions, the East Zone’s current state of affairs need to be addressed.

These organisers urged an immediate end to the “pick and choose” culture to safeguard the future of cricket in the zone.
