RAWALPINDI: A specialised medical board has concluded a comprehensive health assessment of PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala jail following a directive from the Islamabad High Court.

The medical team, reconstituted by the chief commissioner in alignment with judicial orders, arrived at the facility to evaluate the former prime minister’s health status.

The medical board comprised prominent experts including Dr. Arif Hussain, Professor Akhtar Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Arif and Dr. Arif Khan from PIMS, along with Professor Dr. Nadeem Qureshi from Shifa Eye Trust. The examination was conducted with the full cooperation of jail’s resident medical staff. According to jail administration, the check-up took place in the presence of Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and utilised all necessary medical equipment and facilities provided on-site.

This development follows a March 12 ruling by the Islamabad High Court regarding a petition to transfer the PTI founder to Shifa International Hospital.

Following the conclusion of the examination, the medical team departed from Adiala jail and is now expected to compile a formal report for submission to the commissioner of Islamabad.

This forthcoming report will include the board’s final recommendations on whether the former prime minister requires transfer to a hospital for further treatment or should remain under medical supervision on the jail premises.
