KARACHI: Yango Ride has become the first platform in Pakistan to receive a Transport Network Company (TNC) operating licence from the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority, marking a key step in regulating the ride-hailing sector, stated a statement on Tuesday.

The licence allows Yango Ride to operate under the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2025, following months of coordination with the Punjab Transport Ministry and other stakeholders to implement a new regulatory framework. The framework aims to improve oversight while introducing stronger safety, verification and compliance standards for drivers and passengers.

Yango Pakistan Country Manager Miral Sharif said the approval reflects the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and long-term investment in the country’s mobility sector. The development is seen as a positive signal for Pakistan’s digital economy, offering greater transparency and operational certainty for ride-hailing services.Yango Ride is also working with the Punjab Safe City Authority to integrate emergency helpline 15 into its app, aiming to enhance passenger safety across the province.
