KARACHI: With increasing reliance from international shipping lines operating across Middle Eastern routes, the Karachi Port is witnessing a notable rise in transshipment cargo handling, strengthening its role as a regional maritime logistics and cargo redistribution hub.

In this regard, two transshipment vessels berthed simultaneously at the port. CGLA Ocean Breeze 1 docked at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), while GFS Jade berthed at Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL), discharging containers destined for various ports across the Middle East.

The simultaneous handling of transshipment cargo highlights the port’s operational capacity, efficient infrastructure and strategic geographic advantage in supporting regional maritime logistics and container shipping operations, while ensuring the continuity of international trade amid ongoing disruptions in global shipping routes.

With transshipment volumes continuing to rise, Karachi Port is steadily strengthening its reputation as a key maritime logistics hub in South Asia and the Middle East, reinforcing Pakistan’s role in regional shipping and maritime connectivity.
