Islamabad:In response to an unprecedented joint threat from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), authorities have implemented a ring of steel around the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
In a parallel effort to secure public gatherings, heavy contingents of police and paramilitary forces were deployed around the Markazi Imambargah in Sector G-6 to protect a large-scale protest demonstration against Israeli and American aggression.
To ensure the safety of the participants and prevent any breach of the peace, law enforcement agencies completely sealed all adjacent roads and established a multi-tiered security cordon. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police personally supervised the deployment, coordinating the high-level security measures to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and ensure the protection of the protesting citizens amidst the heightened threat alert.
The sealing of the high-security Red Zone to the deployment of elite paramilitary units at sensitive installations, the law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive preemptive strategy to neutralize any potential terror strike and ensure the sanctity of the twin cities remains inviolable.
The Red Zone, housing the Parliament House, Supreme Court, and Prime Minister's Office, is currently sealed to unauthorised personnel, with entry restricted to only two primary routes via Margalla Road and the Marriott Hotel corridor.
All other major access points, including Jinnah Avenue and Express Chowk, remain blocked by shipping containers and reinforced barriers. Within the Diplomatic Enclave, security has reached unprecedented levels as law enforcement implements multi-layered vetting for all entrants, supplemented by the integration of AI-powered Safe City cameras and body-worn surveillance technology on patrolling officers.
To ensure the city's perimeter remains secure, a massive contingent comprising the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, Pakistan Rangers, and the Frontier Corps has been deployed at all strategic entry and exit points.
Specialized units, including the Anti-Terrorist Squad and the Bomb Disposal Squad, are conducting continuous sweeps of sensitive installations. Simultaneously, intelligence-led combing operations are underway in the city's urban and rural peripheries to disrupt sleeper cells and militant logistics.
Given the specific nature of the threats directed at religious gatherings, a specialized security plan was operationalized for Friday prayers. Mosques and imambargahs across the capital were placed under strict monitoring, with worshippers required to pass through metal detectors and walk-through gates at designated single-entry points.
Technological vigilance has also been scaled up, with a strict ban on all drone operations currently in effect to ensure clear airspace. In Rawalpindi, security has been beefed up around sensitive locations including Saddar, Sadiqabad, and Moti Bazar.
