KARACHI: Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited has been recognised by the government as one of Pakistan’s leading exporters, highlighting the role of the British American Tobacco unit in the country’s trade and fiscal contributions.
The recognition reflects the company’s export performance and its contribution to public finances, with PTC saying it has paid more than Rs1 trillion ($3.6 billion) to the national exchequer over the past five years through taxes and duties.
PTC began exporting in 2018 and has since built a presence in multiple international markets. Over the past eight years, the company has recorded exports exceeding $200 million, including tobacco and nicotine products supplied to Europe, South America, East Asia and the Gulf region, according to the company.
The exporter said its overseas sales were supported by manufacturing standards and compliance frameworks aligned with international quality requirements, as well as continued investment in production technology.
In addition to its commercial operations, PTC said it has invested in sustainability initiatives, including responsible manufacturing practices, community programmes and environmental measures.
