ISLAMABAD: Just a week ahead of Indian Republic Day celebrations, intelligence agencies of that country on Saturday issued an alert warning of possible terror threats to New Delhi and several other cities across India.
According to intelligence inputs cited by Indian media, Khalistani outfits and Bangladesh-based organisations may attempt to carry out attacks ahead of January 26.
As a precaution, Delhi and multiple cities nationwide have been placed on high alert. According to intelligence sources Punjab-based gangsters are increasingly being used as “foot soldiers by Khalistani and other radical handlers operating from abroad”. These handlers are allegedly exploiting local criminal networks to further their agenda and pose a threat to internal security.
The alert noted that such gangsters are active across Haryana, Delhi-National Capital Region, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and are gradually establishing operational links with Khalistani freedom movement.
