LAHORE: Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is currently undergoing a formal rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, as he works toward full recovery from a knee injury sustained during his recent stint in the Big Bash League (BBL).
While his rehabilitation would ordinarily fall under the responsibility of the BBL team’s medical staff, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken charge, ensuring his recovery is closely monitored by its expert medical team.
Under strict supervision, Afridi’s rehabilitation plan at the NCA is designed to address the specific demands of a high-impact fast bowler. The program includes physiotherapy to manage swelling and restore knee mobility, strength training to rebuild muscles around the joint, and gradual load management—progressing from light jogging to net sessions before returning to full international intensity.
