The Sindh government would not tolerate delays in development projects, Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malakani said on Tuesday.

He warned that strict measures would be taken to protect public funds and action would be initiated against under performing officers, adding that delays often lead to cost overruns if projects were not completed on time.

The minister expressed these views while presiding over an important meeting regarding the establishment of the Rulers Growth Centre at his office. He emphasised that all development projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sujawal Zahid Hussain Rind, the project director, and senior officials from the Roads Department, Public Health Engineering Department, and the Planning and Development Department.

Malakani received separate briefings from the concerned officers and reviewed all aspects of the project in detail. He directed that letters be written to the relevant provincial ministers regarding departments whose performance was found to be unsatisfactory.

Stressing accountability, the minister said the government would not tolerate any wastage of public money and made it clear that officers unwilling to perform should step aside. He added that completing public welfare projects within the given timeframe was the government’s top priority.

He further noted that delays in projects result in cost overruns, which harm the province’s economy. With the same funds, additional development initiatives could be launched. The minister instructed officers to carry out their duties with dedication, honesty, and commitment.
