PSX Board elects Ruhail Mohammad as chairman

LAHORE: Ruhail Mohammad has been elected chairman of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) Board of Directors, following the death of former chairperson Dr Shamshad Akhtar, the exchange said on Monday.

According to a notice issued by the PSX, Mohammad will serve for the remainder of the current board term in line with legal and regulatory requirements.Mohammad brings more than 35 years of experience in general management, business development, strategy, financial planning and people development. He is currently chief executive of Lucky Electric Power Company Limited, a 660 MW independent power producer and subsidiary of Lucky Cement.

He previously served as CEO of Hub Power Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Hubco, Pakistan’s largest independent power producer, and led Engro Fertilisers from 2012 to 2018.His board memberships have included Engro Corp and its subsidiaries, K-Electric, NBP Funds, the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, the British Overseas School, KP Energy Board (PEDO), and he has also chaired the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited.

Dr Akhtar, former caretaker finance minister and governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, passed away last month at the age of 70.Separately, the PSX board noted the resignation of Dr Fakhara Rizwan as corporate secretary and chief governance, legal and corporate affairs officer.
